Nolichucky Gorge

The Nolichucky River is a beloved paddling destination with class IV whitewater, and its headwaters are found in Pisgah. The steep, rugged gorge through which it passes protects an abundance of rare species and old-growth forest. The Nolichucky has been recommended for National Wild and Scenic River designation, and the Appalachian Trail runs through the Tennessee portion of the Nolichucky Gorge area.
